Burra Mine Pool Dive Site
Situated in the Mid North of South Australia, approximately 2 hours travelling time from Adelaide Airport, is the historic township of Burra. In the late 1840's copper was discovered at Burra and mining operations commenced soon after. In the early 1980's mining ceased and within three months, the large open cut excavation that had resulted from 130 years of almost continuous mining, filled with ground water to a depth of nearly 50 metres.
The result is what you see in the photograph on this page is arguably Australia’ best and most unique diver training location; we are not affected by the vagaries of weather....the purpose built diving barge provides a very realistic platform from which to undertake your training. The barge is exceptionally well equipped to ensure that your training progresses smoothly. For instance, when you need a large and heavy item to work on, the installed crane can, just as it would in the workplace, be used to provide very realistic, real time handling of heavy items that many schools are simply not able to easily duplicate. This is just one of the many innovations that sets our operation apart from our competition.
The mine pool is located only three minutes away from our well equipped workshop facilities and as such we can offer you a training facility to world class standards.
